Calcined alumina is used in the production of glass for packaging (perfume bottles, household items), flat glass (construction and automotive industries) and in glass recycling. The main advantages of adding alumina to these products are:
• Stabilizer: prevents crystallization or results in a transparent product;
• Volumetric expansion: reduces the expansion of the product;
• Flux: lowers the melting point in the glass phase;
In addition, the addition of alumina increases resistance to chemical attack, extending the useful life of the glass.
