Calcined alumina is fundamental in formulating ceramic glazes, as it enhances resistance to chemical attack, providing greater durability. This alumina also plays a crucial role in adjusting the thermal expansion coefficient of the compounds, aligning it with the ceramic plate and preventing warping during firing. Calcined alumina is also used in the production of ceramic frits, which is essential to avoid cracking and wear on the surface of the coating.
Ultra-calcined alumina is essential in manufacturing compounds that require high hardness of the grains, promoting greater resistance to surface wear that ceramic plates are subjected to when applied in high-traffic areas and requiring high friction resistance.
Hydrated alumina also plays an important role in this segment, being used in the formulation of pigments, dyes, and anti-slip pastes, which increases the coefficient of friction of ceramic coatings.
Another important component is Whitelum, a white pigment used as a substitute for titanium dioxide, which can be applied in frits and compounds. Whitelum can also replace zirconia, offering high opacity and thermal and chemical stability. This makes it ideal for producing ceramic coatings that require durability and quality.
High alumina spheres are used in ball mills to reduce the particle size of raw materials, ensuring efficient and contamination-free grinding.
