Calcined alumina (aluminum oxide) is fundamental in the engobe for masonry, applied to the refractory furniture of the kilns, where it acts as a protective layer that prevents the pieces from sticking to the furniture during firing, avoiding damage such as cracks or deformations. Aluminum oxide is also used in the preparation of matte glazes and compounds.

Ultracalcined alumina is also used, playing a key role in preventing crazing in tableware and applied in the production of transparent glaze.

Hydrated alumina is used in the preparation of ceramic dyes, ensuring uniformity and precision of colors on the pieces, resulting in an aesthetically appealing and consistent finish.

Additionally, high alumina balls are essential in grinding raw materials, such as clay and glaze, contributing to obtaining a uniform and adequate particle size. This step is crucial to ensure a homogeneous mixture and the quality of the ceramic product, increasing its strength and durability.
